Spónda, s. f.
1. edge, side, shore, brim, brink.— d'un pozzo, kerp-stone, the brim or brink of a well. — di ponte, rails on the outside of bridges. — di letto, the bed-side. Sponde d'un fiume, the sides of a river. Sponde della poppa, the balustrades which deck the sides of the canopy in a galley.
